Band merch that sells out at the table
For a lot of bands, the merch table pays for the gas, the van repairs and the next recording session. A strong shirt can matter almost as much as a strong set. And when a fan wears your shirt around town, that is a walking flyer for your next show.
We're a Utah apparel brand, and everything we make starts with original art from muralists, painters and illustrators. We get what makes a band shirt work, because art-driven apparel is what we do every day of the year. We make custom tees, hoodies, crop tops, hats and more for bands, solo artists, DJs, rappers, producers and music collectives across Utah.
Who we make merch for
- Local bands playing clubs, bars, house shows and all-ages venues.
- Touring acts who need a merch table that sells in every city on the run.
- Solo artists, rappers and DJs building a brand around their name.
- Labels, collectives and crews who want shared gear for the whole roster.
- Music festivals and venues that want event shirts and staff apparel.
- Choirs, orchestras and school music programs looking for concert shirts with a little more edge.
Design ideas for band merch
Album art, extended
Your cover art already has fans. Pull a detail from it, rework it for fabric, and add the band name in a strong typeface. Our artists can adapt existing art or paint something brand new in the same world.
The tour shirt
The classic for a reason. Big art on the front, and on the back, a list of cities from your run. Even a short regional run through Salt Lake City, Provo, Ogden, Logan and St. George looks great listed down the back. Fans love proving they were there.
Logo-only basics
Not every shirt needs a full illustration. A clean, well-drawn band logo on a black tee is a steady seller and a good lower-priced option on the table.
Lyrics and inside references
A line from your best-known song, a fan nickname, or a reference only true fans get. These shirts turn listeners into a community.
Genre-driven style
Metal fans expect detailed, dark illustration. Hip hop leans toward bold type and graffiti lettering. Indie and folk often go for hand-drawn, vintage looks. Punk wants raw and loud. We match the style to your sound so it feels right to your crowd.
Show-specific drops
Playing a release show, a hometown anniversary gig or a festival slot? A limited design just for that night gives fans a reason to buy before it is gone.
Building a merch table that sells
What you put on the table matters as much as the design. A few pointers:
- Lead with tees. They are the easiest sell and the most affordable item for fans.
- Add one premium item. A hoodie or crewneck gives superfans something bigger to buy and raises your average sale.
- Offer more than one cut. Crop tops and tanks often move fast with a younger crowd and at summer shows.
- Bring hats. Snapback hats with a patch are great for fans who already own your shirts.
- Try something unexpected. Sweatpants with a small logo hit or art socks from our socks collection can be fun add-ons for a bundle.
- Price clearly. Big, readable signs and card payments make the table move faster between sets.
How many shirts should a band order?
Ordering too much ties up cash you need for the road. Ordering too little means turning fans away. Some tips:
- Start with the 24-piece minimum. That is our minimum per design, and it is a manageable first run for a local band.
- Weight toward the middle sizes. Mediums and larges tend to move most, but keep a few smalls and extra-larges so nobody walks away empty-handed.
- Mix colors. Sizes and colors can be mixed within each design, so you can run the same art on black and on a lighter color without doubling the minimum.
- Track what sells. Keep a quick tally at each show. The next order gets smarter every time.
Need to restock between shows? We can set up a private ordering page for your band on graffitiwearclothing.com. Log in, enter quantities by size and color, pay by card and ship it anywhere, even to a venue down the road on your run. Your designs stay on file for easy reorders.
Buying merch for resale
If you are selling merch, you are buying for resale. Send us a Utah TC-721 sales tax exemption certificate, and we will remove sales tax from your account. That keeps more of each sale in the band fund.
Band shirts vs. crew shirts
Bands that play bigger rooms or run their own events often need two designs. One is the fan merch for the table. The other is a simple crew shirt for the people working the door, the sound booth, the merch table and the stage. A bold "CREW" on the back keeps things running smoothly backstage. If you play a lot of bar gigs, our page on custom shirts for bars covers venue staff apparel too.
Pricing and process
Custom tees start at $16 each. Your price depends on the garment, number of ink colors, print locations and quantity, and bigger orders get better per-piece pricing.
- Send us your art or idea. Album covers, logos, sketches, lyrics, mood boards. Anything helps.
- Get a design. Design help is included. Our artists can clean up existing art or create something original.
- Approve the proof. You approve a digital proof before anything gets printed.
- Get a timeline. We'll give you a timeline with your quote, so reach out as soon as you have shows on the calendar.
Supporting the Utah music scene
Utah has a deep, scrappy music scene, from Salt Lake City clubs to Provo house shows, Ogden venues, Logan college crowds and summer stages in Park City and St. George. We are artists too, and we love helping local musicians look as good as they sound. We ship anywhere in the US, so touring bands and out-of-state acts are covered.
